TX/OU: Dublin Style

This was the second weekend in a row that something fun was going on in Dallas and we were feelin' it bad.  BUT...as we continue to remind ourselves, we are doing our thing here in Europe, and that means that we're going to miss out occasionally.  And this turned out to be the PERFECT weekend to miss, as it turns out!  Yikes.

I had a pretty packed week last week (woohoo!) so we met some pals out on Friday night at Kehoe's for some drinks.
Missy, me, Autumn
Autumn and Ian, her Irish lad
Hook 'em!  Gettin ready for the game!  Hopes are high!  Yeah!
Everyone thought we were drunk in this pic but really...it was just a bright flash in a dark room.  Though we had been drinking a little I guess.  SO WHAT!?!?
My mom bought this scarf for Drew a year ago and he was finally able/comfortable enough to wear it!  Thanks Mom!

We lounged around on Saturday, stopped by the Elephant and Castle in Temple Bar for some wings, and headed over to the Woolshed - the huge sports pub that shows American sports games, God love 'em.  Drew, me, Missy, Tom, and Autumn watched it in a little corner of the pub until the Irish rugby game was over and then they put it on the big screen!  Hell yeah!

Stadium style seats!  Cooool.
Kathleen sent me this pic during the game.  Sigh.
Things aren't going well.  And Drew's mood is taking a nosedive.

But I made him smile for this pic.  Yay!
We took our defeated asses over to a Korean place nearby called KimChi.  We'd never eaten Korean food before but Autumn swore by it and we like trying new things!  (One of us does, anyway.)

Us girls thought we were ordering a fine Korean wine.  Turns out, it was Korean liquor.  We were supposed to sip it and MAN it was strong stuff.  Ekklleegghhhhh.  (That's the sound I made every time I took a swig.)

Drew's Bibimbap: rice, veggies, beef, eggs, kimchi and miso soup.

My Dakgalbi: chicken and veggies in a chili sauce on a sizzling platter with some potatoes, kimchi, other veggies, and rice.  REAL good.

On Sunday, we lounged around awhile, as per usual, and decided to try Dublin Vineyard church again.  I prayed for a more open mind and a less cynical outlook.  We had a pretty decent time and chatted with the pastor and his wife afterwards, where they invited us to lunch at their house next week with some people to learn more about the church.  Not sure if we'll make it.  Stay tuned.

Grocery shopping and laundry and MORE lounging...and then we went over to Missy and Tom's amazing place for more American football!  We walked in and I think Drew almost passed out - they had their main TV showing the NFL Red Zone, then they had their iPad set up on a different channel, along with their laptop.  And Drew brought his iPad so there were 4 different things going on simultaneously.  It was pretty genius.  They made us chicken wings and chocolate chip cookies and we drank wine and had a lovely Sunday evening pretending we were still in the US of A.

Pretty sweet set up.
I've got another busy week coming up, and I think I'm settling into this not-working thing.  But more on that later.  Though the UT game sucked and completely embarrassed us, it was still a fun weekend.  Hook 'em!  What starts here changes the world.
